Haiti – Humanitarian: Deeply alarmed and dismayed country team

Mrs. Ulrika Richardson, Humanitarian Coordinator from Haiti and the country team (1) “(…) are deeply alarmed and dismayed by the unacceptable and inhuman intensity of the violence that caught Haiti, an extreme bakery wave that, from the end of the month. January led to the widespread loss of life and to the movement of over 6,000 people, including 2,000 in Delmas municipalities, Au-Prince and Pétion-Ville, as well as more than 4,100 in Kenscoff. )

The daily life of many Haitians is marked by violence, fear, exhaustion, hunger, disease and uncertainty about the future. Women, girls and children are experiencing an increasing threat, especially that of sexual violence. Recall that in 2024, violence cost life of at least 5,600 haitians displaced more than one million people . The protection of the population must be the priority of all.

We ask all the parties involved in this violence to break this terror cycle and end this uncontrolled spiral.

As a humanitarian community, we remain determined to continue our vital assistance to millions of children, women and men in vulnerable situations.

Beyond the immediate help given by the humanitarian action, we also hired ourselves to coordinate our efforts with the development and peace -construction actors, so that our collective efforts contribute to sustainable solutions that consolidate the resistance of the communities.

The mobilization actions of the international community in favor of Haiti will continue to guarantee the necessary financing to meet the urgent needs and to restore the dignity of the affected.
