Andrew Scott and Redbreast Whisky Launch Sxsw Short Film Award

Drinks and movies often go well together, especially if you watch something terrible. But in this last collaboration, the idea is to champion the movie Indie.

All foreign actors Andrew Scott and whiskey Brand Redbreast team has made a team to launch an initiative of the SWSX festival, called RedBreast Used.

It is here to celebrate independent short films, and six of them were selected by Andrew Scott, along with the Redbreast team.

The idea is that these are the films in which Scott “feels that the world has to see”, although, despite the search, I have not found any way to block tickets at the event they will be screened.

The six movies will be displayed at the lexeded redbreaded showcase at Austin Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. And one of them will continue to win the inaugural prize Redbreast Nedead, which also comes with a subsidy – Redbreast has not announced how much this is worth it.

“It was really fun to be part, especially given their initiative to encourage future film producers, whose voices must now be supported more than ever,” says Scott.

Here are the six pre -selected films for the prize:

  • Sweetbriar: A Spanish “document” film, directed by Danny Rivera, who played his own mother as … a mother who deals and prepares her house, before a visit from her son.
  • Nervous energy: A comedy about a few film friends who decide to break away from their partners. Directed by Eve Liu, who was born in London and grew up in Australia.
  • One day this child: Already nominated for a lot of prizes at 2024 and 2025 festivals, this short short shorts focus on the experiences of immigrants from the first generation. Director Alexander Farah says it’s about “my own experiences that grow gay and Afghan.”
  • I am the most racist person you know: “Queer gen Z romcom” from Leela Varghese sees Lali tries not to flirt with a bartender, just to lead with an authentic connection with someone else.
  • Short some bodies: This 14-minute movie from Andy Reid presents the rehearsals of a scene in which one actor is engaged to sexually aggressing another. It can only act, but it has wider effects.
  • Entre torment: A man enters a cemetery to recover the remains of his brother, after his hometown is torn by a hurricane. Directed by Frank Zayas.
