Press release – New Zealand police

Routine patrol in Avondale has put a prolific shoplifter.

Tuesday night, a first -rate unit made a traffic stop on a vehicle requested by the Police on the Blockhouse Bay Road.

“It was around 11.43 PM, when the staff performs the prevention of patrol in the area,” says Auckland City West Area, inspector Alisse Robertson.

“The vehicle was stopped while its registered owner was searched by the police.

“The man was not the registered owner, but after talking to the driver further, his identity was established.”

Inspector Robertson says the man had numerous mandates for his arrest for dishonest crimes, including shopping.

“The man was a person of interest for our national unit of retail investigation.

“He was arrested on the side of the road and, while talking to the police, he observed methamphetamine inside the vehicle.”

Since then, the police have accused the man with over 20 offenses, along with the possession of methamphetamine.

“We will claim that he has responded for offering to retail shops right in the city, with almost $ 10,000 in September offenses,” says Inspector Robertson.

The 34 -year -old man appeared at the Auckland District Court and will reappear on March 19.

“This is an excellent result from our staff and is another example of work to target offenders of retail recurrence.”
