Didmus Barasa claims that SHA does not work, asks Ruto to examine the policy: “Kenyani cry”

  • The alleged inefficiencies of the Social Health Authority (SHA) are too obvious to be ignored, according to the parliamentary Kimilili Didmus Barasa
  • Barasa observed that the nine health scheme was meant to serve still suffering from inadequate financing
  • The parliamentarian asked President William Ruto to intervene and remedy the scheme through, among other measures, financing Shaha strongly

Barasa, chosen on a Wet Party ticket, he said that the new health scheme has not yet established the gaps experienced in the deceased of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The parliamentarian, while appreciating the good intentions of President William Ruto with SHA, mentioned that the over 15 million kenians in the scheme were striving to access the medical services due to financing issues.

He claimed that the facilities are removed from the patients due to the debts due by them by the state -led health scheme.

“The president asked us to mobize the Kenians to register with the SHA, but the challenge is that our people are refused services, because the SHA owes millions and therefore cannot download services,” the parliamentarian said.

He suggested that the president sanction the heavy financing of the program, considering that the few Kenian employees taxed to lead him cannot support 15 million kenians.

Barasa asked the president to direct the exchequer, by approving the Parliament, to have money to the SHA so that the scheme fulfilled its purpose properly.

He seemed to warn the president that the inefficiencies in the SHA make their efforts in the delivery to Kenian and could negatively have an influence on his re -election offer in 2027.

“The Kenians who are taxed to finance the SHA are not many and, therefore, their money cannot support the medical needs of millions of Kenians. I want to ask the president, the Kenians cry, that this SHA does not work. The system cannot host millions of kenians who registered. The Kenians do not continue to suffer.

Barasa added that the Kenians have been assaulted by the failures of the units such as SHA in solving the systemic problems suffered over the years.

He said that it is the responsibility of the government to play and streamline policies that do not fulfill the interests of the public.

According to him, it would not be useless to have a new health scheme that continues the challenges suffered in the previous one, in this case, NHIF.

“Public policies come to solve public problems. Kenians have been optimistic that SHA would solve problems under NHIF. If SHA and Taifa care are not able to solve the public problem that existed when I had NHIF, then Keniens have given the Government the responsibility to revise that policy, identifying where the gaps,”
