Florida police instructor, injured at accidental weapons discharge

The officials of the Daytona State College said they are investigating accidental shooting of an instructor of the Police Academy in a class four days ago.

“I received your Em mail and currently investigate the incident,” said Chris Thomas, the spokesman for the Daytona State College.

Thomas did not provide any other details about the Monday incident, and the Daytona Beach police did not respond to a request on Wednesday for a report or information about incidents.

A 911 registration launched on Thursday at The News-Journal by the Sheriff’s office in Volusia County indicated that the shooting took place in class 237 at the Police Academy at the 1770 Technology.

“We need a medical medical one,” said the appellant, who identified himself as an officer at the Academy, told a dispatcher 911. “We had an accidental discharge, an firearm was extinguished and we believe that he in the groin.”

The appellant told the dispatcher that a doctor from the academy participated in the injured instructor.

The instructor was accidentally shot with a Ruder Pistol, said the 911 appellant.
