Release of Epstein files has been slammed for editors, lack of new details

16:34 et: A review of New York Post of Epstein files launched published earlier Thursday They found heavy news and little new information. While the binders were labeled “declassified”, it is not clear if they have ever been classified.

The limited release sparked criticism from the rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), which leads a working group for GOP transparency.

“I have not been given or revised the Epstein documents released today … A story from NY Post has just revealed that the documents will simply be Epstein’s telephone agenda,” Luna said. “We have not asked us or American people and a complete disappointment. Put the information I asked for!”

Pam Bondi asks FBI that reduce the detained documents

16:00 et: Prosecutor General Pam Bondi sent a Scary letter The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, on Thursday, accusing the Federal Investigators in New York of detaining thousands of pages of Jeffrey Epstein’s documents that he promised to release.

Bondi said he had previously requested the complete Epstein file, but received only about 200 pages – with less than what was launched last year in a process related to Ghislaine Maxwell.

“Late yesterday, I learned from a source that the FBI office office in New York had thousands of pages related to Epstein’s investigation and indictment,” Bondi wrote, asking for documents to be handed over to 8:00 am on Friday.

“There will be no restraints or limitations to my access or you,” she added, instructing the FBI to include all records, documents, audio and video related to Epstein and its customers.

Epstein case: a network of abuse and secret for decades

What do we know:

Epstein’s crimes and links with powerful figures were widely documented by processes, public disclosures and the Law on Freedom of Information (Foia). Over the years, the courts have issued thousands of registration pages, including interviews for victims, police reports and legal records.

In January 2024, a court described thousands of pages from a process by Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein victim.

The documents included names of high profile figures, such as Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and Magic David Copperfield-Desi there was no evidence to involve them in crimes.

A victim testified about Michael Jackson’s meeting at Epstein’s Florida house, but he said nothing was wrong.

Epstein was accused of sexually abusing dozens of minor girls in the early 2000s, but served only 13 months in prison after hitting a secret agreement with Ferida federal prosecutors.

In 2019, he was under a federal accusation in New York for new traffic charges, more than a decade later. He died by suicide in prison in August, waiting for the trial.

What we don’t know:

It is not clear if the new DOJ files will contain new significant details or they will simply confirm what is already known. While officials launched the journals and the flight name, they did not reveal if new high profile figures are involved.

In addition, while Trump has previously suggested on the campaign route that he will open the government files related to Epstein, it is not certain how much of that material will eventually be declared.

The case continues to attract global attention due to Epstein’s links with influential figures, as well as the persistent questions that surround his connections, pleading agreements and circumstances of his death.
