DPP continues offensive after failing to secure budget agreement with LDP-Komito

Surg for his failure to negotiate an agreement on his signature policy with the ruling coalition, the Democratic Opposition Party for People (DPP) continues the attack, while looking at public support before this summer’s elections.

The result is likely to continue to complicate the political landscape of Japan, in which the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito must gain the cooperation of at least one opposition party to ensure the votes they need to adopt the legislation.

During the campaign for the lower elections of the house from October last year, DPP was committed to lift the threshold without taxes for annual revenues from 1.03 million ¥ ($ 6,880) to 1.78 million. It has proven to be very popular among younger, urban voters, who helped DPP to quadruple their lower seat from seven to 28, which makes the third most opposition party in the bottom room, behind the Constitutional Democrat Party in Japan and Nippon Ishin No Kai.
