1982 Bombardment suspect found in New Mexico

A man running for more than four decades are behind bars after the agencies of the federal and county law were arrested last week in New Mexico.

Weed, NM – a man on a run for more than four decades is behind bars after the federal and county law enforcement agencies were arrested in Weed, New Mexico last week.

Stephen Campbell was sought by American marches for attempted murder, after making a bomb and planted it at the house of his wife’s alienated wife in Wyoming in 1982. She was seriously injured in the explosion.

He was released on the bond and disappeared. The judicial documents show that he has been living a double life for more than 40 years, assuming the identity of Walter Coffman – a former classmate.

“I knew they went to school together, but they could have been even closer to that,” said the special agent responsible for the FBI Albuerque office, Raul Bujanda. “He could have been friends.”

Bujanda said that a red flag grew for social security agents in 2019, when Campbell visited an MVD in Cloudcroft to renew its license under Coffman’s name.

The judicial records show that he has submitted the New Mexico driving license with his photo, but Cofman’s name and birth date. He also provided a Social Security card with Coffman’s name and social security number and a passport with his photo identifying him as Coffman.

But the agents knew that Coffman had died in a motorcycle accident in 1975 and suspected that someone was fraudulently using their identity. His obituar includes his photo.

After living as Coffman for decades, Campbell’s lies network began to get rid of. Agent Bujanda said that Campbell received around $ 170,000 for social security benefits.

“The only thing I have had since the passport has been constantly renewed and offered its new photo of what it looked today, but by offering -and always it made it easy to locate it by facial recognition and that photo could tell us who is really,” said Bujanda.

Last week, a SWAT FBI team, Social Security and Deputies in Otero County executed a search warrant on Campbell’s 44 acres. Bujanda said Campbell was out when they arrived.

“He saw him coming from what I think he received a tactical advantage over the team coming,” said Bujanda. “I found out that it was probably for a fight, but we didn’t expect to get a huge presence from law enforcement.”

After his arrest, Campbell’s imprints confirmed the true identity. Campbell is experiencing an accusation of passport fraud in New Mexico, but will be extradited to Wyoming, where he is experiencing an attempt to kill.

Bujanda said FBI intends to submit more taxes.
