The High Court Karnataka reminds the police that he cannot use WhatsApp to call the accused

Despite this fact, on February 14 this year, the Karnataka Adugodi Police Section used WhatsApp to issue a notification to a 25-year-old student from Tamil Nadu, asking them to appear before the police regarding a criminal case involving charges of identity and impersonation by using a computer resource.

The student moved the High Court by challenging this notification. The court annulled the notification of WhatsApp and told the police that it may issue new notification in accordance with the law.

In this case, a perusation of the imputed notification from 14.02.2025 will indicate that the same was issued by WhatsApp, which is clearly waterproof, in the light of the decision of the Apex Court, in the case of Satender Kumar Antil (supra) and the same deserves to be canceled … However, the freedom is reserved in favor of the response (35) BNSS (41 (a) of CR.PC) to the petitioner and proceeds further in accordance with the law, “ Said the court.
