A man was accused of murder following an alleged attack more than a decade ago.

Anthony Ellis, 36, is accused of killing Igor Pavlov, 41 years old.

Mr. Pavlov was seriously injured in September 2012, during an incident in Whitworth Park, Rusholme.

He died more than a decade later in July 2023.

Now, Mr. Ellis was accused of his crime and appeared at Manchester Crown Court through the video link earlier (February 28).

He did not ask to introduce a plea for the accusation during the short session.

Another hearing will take place in May, in which Mr. Ellis is expected to be asked to conclude his plea.

A process was scheduled for August.

The defendant, from HMP Garth, appeared for the first time in court on Wednesday, at the Magistrates of Manchester.

Following today’s hearing, Judge Nicholas Dean KC, the honorary recorder of Manchester, withdrew Mr. Ellis in arrest.
