Japanese woman investigated for sexual harassment after kissing BTS ‘Jin to Hug Event

South Korea police officially accused a Japanese woman on charges of sexual harassment, after kissing her on the BTS member, Jin, on the cheek, in 2024.

The police station in Seoul Songpa announced that they have reserved the woman, who is 50, under the charge of sexual harassment and asked her to appear for query.

The incident took place on June 13, 2024, one day after Jin ended his mandatory military service, during an event of hugging fans, organized on the Jamsil interior stadium in Songpa-Gu, Seoul.

The woman, who was among the 1,000 fans participated, kissed her on the cheek suddenly.

Photos and Jin videos that look visibly uncomfortable and surprised quickly on social networks, which leads to widespread critics on woman’s actions as a sexual harassment.

At that time, a blog post, written by the woman, circulated online. In the post, the author, who identified himself as a Japanese fan, described the moment, saying, “My lips touched his neck, his skin was incredibly soft.”

Following the incident, the fans filed a complaint through the e-poets of the national petition system, causing the police to launch an investigation.

Police identified the woman with Interpol Japan cooperation. While the police asked for the appearance for query, it did not comply. They also intend to interrogate Jin as a victim if necessary. Korea Herald/Asia news network
