Police dispersion orders in force throughout the centers of Cannock and Hednesford, after the robbery incidents

Section 34 Dispersion notification by Staffordshire police was implemented at Cannock until Friday (February 28).

The order allows the police to disperse people in the city center area, if they are suspected of being involved in cases of antisocial behavior, crime or disorder and also means that anyone under the age of 16 can be returned to the home address.

A similar order is also in effect in Hednesford The city center until 15:00 Sunday.

Sergeant Oliver Sharma, from Cannock Local Policeing Team (LPT)He said: “We issue these dispersion notices in the interest of our local communities.

“We want to ensure the public that we issue these orders only when it is absolutely necessary.

“We have reasonable reasons to exercise these powers to alleviate the community’s concerns and to retain those who intend to disrupt public and local companies.”

Orders come after two incidents of Cannock The city center, where two groups of young people were threatened and robbed in separate incidents around the city.

The first incident took place on Market Street around 16.40 PM Sunday (February 23) and say a group of four boys approached by a group of eight or nine teenagers.

Group I threatened the four boys with a knife that was hidden in the waist band, asking for the boy’s phones and bank cards.

A 15 -year -old boy stole the phone, clock, bank card, electric coat and scooter and was also hit in front.

Three other boys, everyone aged 14, stole the phones.

The suspects were described like everyone wearing black clothes and face masks, with a series of them riding electric scooters.
