The village of Lebanon buries dozens of deaths after Israeli withdrawal

Lebanon led a delayed funeral on Friday in a border village for more than 90 civilians and fighters of the Hezbollah movement, who died during the war with Israel, who ended with a November fire termination.

Under the armistice, Israel had a 60 -day initial, later extended until February 18, to remove his troops from the south of Lebanon, but did not withdraw the majority until the subsequent term.

In the market of the strongly damaged city in Aiariroun, the coffins reached four trucks, some covered in the yellow flag of Hezbollah, supported by Iran, others in the national flag.

The flowers were scattered on top.

Women sighing, dressed in black, gathered around vehicles holding photos of Hezbollah fighters or the leader of the movement, Hassan Nasrallah, killed by an Israeli air strike during the war.

The coffins were then transported to a cemetery where 95 graves were dug, each marked by a number.

The dead included 51 Hezbollah fighters, most of them in battle and 31 civilians, including five children and 16 women, killed by Israeli strikes, according to a channel dedicated to the village in the Telegram application.

He added that there were 13 people who died of natural causes.

One of the grief, athef Khouzerat, told an Israeli strike on a building killed his son Hussein, a volunteer with the Islamic Committee affiliated with Hezbollah.

“My son remained 56 days inside the building after his death, without the rescuers being able to recover their body,” Khouzeirat said. “Where is humanity? Where are human rights?”

Khouzerat added that his son studied radiography at the university. “He was not a terrorist”, but a volunteer “in the service of his country.”

Hezbollah began to draw missiles in Israel in October 2023, saying he was acting in Hamas’s support in his war with Israel in Gaza. Almost a year of low level conflict escalated in September last year, Israel sending the troops to the ground.

The cessation of fire came into effect on November 27, after more than one year of conflict killed more than 4,000 people. Reconstruction costs are expected to exceed $ 10 billion, Lebanese authorities said.
