Excessive Fastag deductions complaints arouse concern; Here’s all you need to know

Social media navigators have raised the alarm on unexpected tax deductions through the Fastag system. CNBC journalist Anuj Singhal, in a Tweet, said he was recently charged ₹900 while traveling on the Samuddhi highway. This is significantly larger than usual ₹ 180 Tax fee.

Singhal, in a post on X (former Twitter), detailed the experience and noted that while entering Plaza Toll, Fastag The system successfully recorded the vehicle. However, he added, during the output, the fee gates were opened. This determined that the system does not register its exit, so that it is charged with 900 lei – the maximum taxation fee.

In his tweet, Singhal noted that refunds may be received when a complaint. However, drivers could overlook such discrepancies or choose not to follow refunds, carrying inflated taxes.

Other motorists share their experiences
However, the problem affected many drivers and some even expressed frustration to the lack of reaction from the tax aid.

One of the users commented on to have been accused of 150 lei from a tax gate at Bandra-Worli Link for three to four months. He said that the “greater frustration” was that he was never at the charity. The user said he continued to file complaints and reverse them.

Another user said he noticed that a similar practice is happening at KMP Expressway, Gurgaon. He added that there is no entry label, just output, and I perceive a random amount.

• Do not mess with the label once it is blocked. Changing its position can cause problems of reading it and can lead to problems with transactions.
