Pedestrian killed in a fatal accident on Bagotstown Public Road

A pedestrian lost his life in a tragic accident on Friday morning along the Bagotstown public road, on East Bank Demerara (EBD).

The incident, which took place at about 11:11 hours, involved an engine truck (GNN 9248) owned by Toolsie Persaud Limited and driven by Wayne McBean, 59 years old, resident in Kaneville, EBD.

According to the police, the truck was heading south, along the east, when the pedestrian, whose identity remains unknown, tried to cross the road from east to west and entered the path of the heavy vehicle. The impact of the collision led to the crushing of both legs of the pedestrian.

The injured man was immediately assisted by the truck driver and public spirit, who placed him in a pickup (PLL 682) and transported him to the Diamond Diagnostic Center. But despite the fact that he reached the medical unit of the Eastern Bank in a conscious state, he was pronounced by a service doctor.

Since then, his body has been taken to the Funeral Memorial Gardens for cold storage, waiting identification and a post-mortem exam.

The authorities have launched a complete investigation into the accident, and an eyewitness has already provided a written statement, while a notification of the criminal prosecution was communicated on the truck driver.

The police ask anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or provide additional details about the accident that will be presented. The investigations are in progress.
