Kent Police issue fraud warning after £ 1 million lost Crypto

The police issued a warning after nine people in Kent lost a combination of 1 million pounds in a cryptocurrency scam.

The personal details of the victims were shared online after a data leak, and their information was used to generate “False fraud reports,” the police said.

Action fraud is the National Fraue Reporting Center and Cyber ​​crime in the UK.

SGT, Darryll, Paulson, said: “Do not embarrass you to report a scam, it only takes a second to be distracted and fall victim.”

Someone who claims to be a police officer contacted the people and assured them that an investigation was launched, the police said.

Fake Officer told the victims “to expect a call from the Crypto Portance.”

Then they received a second call from a person who said they were “a security officer” and asked for their -12 or 24 words that allow users to manage their cryptocurrency wallets.

The frauds then used this information to steal funds and transfer money, the police said.

SGT, Paulson, asked anyone contacted by someone who claims to be from a “crypto host” or from the police, not to give personal details.

“The scams are becoming more and more computers in their ways to deceive their victims … and will often create an emergency in the situation, such as telling them that they have to act now to stop their funds,” said SGT Paulson.
