The police investigating the death of a man from Co Tyrone made the arrest.

The victim, in the 70s was found with serious injuries in an apartment in the Corrainey Park area of Dungannon Thursday night and died a short time later.

A man, 30, is in police Custody being questioned about the suspicion of murder.

The chief inspector of the detective, Kerrie Foreman, said: “Our officers remain on the spot today, while we continue to work to determine the full circumstances that have led to this meaningless attack.

“Appeal to anyone who thinks he might have information that could help us with our investigation to contact us at 101, citing the reference number 1576 27/02/25.”

Commenting on yesterday the case, the superintendent Peter Stevenson said: “(Thursday), a man died tragically after a Serious assault Inside an apartment in the Corrainey Park area of ​​Dungannon.

“Detectives in our major investigation have launched a crime investigation today.

“We received a report yesterday evening at about 20:00, and our officers participated with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance service.

“The 70 -year -old man was seriously injured on the floor of the living room of the property.”

The officer said the victim is Pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of emergency services.

He added: “Our thoughts are very much with the family’s family and friends at this time, while striving to get along with what happened.

“We call with anyone who has information to present us.

“I want to provide insurance to people in the local area that our officers will do everything in their power to carry out a thorough investigation into what happened.

“I would urge the public members not to speculate.

Councilor SDLP Dungannon, Karol Mcquade, said the people in the city are in shock behind death.
