Begins the process of disappearing Joslin Smith

Her mother, Kelly Smith and two co-accused are facing charges of kidnapping and traffic.

This after Joslin mysteriously disappeared on February 19, last year, in the Gulf of Saldanha, from her house in the informal settlement in the middle.

He was in the care of his mother’s lover, Jacquen Appolis, when he disappeared.

Following their appearance in court last month, the trio will be transferred from Pollsmoor to Malmesbury Correction Center to prepare for their process.

Judge Nathan Erasmus allowed the media to cover the process with strict restrictions, including not surprising state witnesses, their accused or lawyer.

It has been a year since Joslin Smith disappeared and, despite the extensive search efforts and an ongoing investigation, she has not yet been found.

During their last occurrence in court, the judge of the High Court said that decisions should be made so that Joslin Smith’s trial would be a circuit.

This is because the community in the Gulf of Saldanha and the surrounding areas have shown interest in the judicial issues.

“This community has a substantial interest in this regard and would like to participate, and access to justice being a fundamental principle, it should obviously adapt to this factor and, for this reason, the problem will be heard in a suitable forum in what we understood to be the Saldanha area.

“I am still informed that the place will have to be either a municipal town hall, because there was a provisional permission given by the municipality, but the adequacy of that place for several reasons, the adequacy of the hearing of the problem, the security aspects for both accused, because of all those concerned, as well as the adequacy to proceed, in fact, as a process.

“Moreover, this will request, in all probability, the judge allocated to this issue, together with the relevant members of the OCJ, the court manager and you as an interested lawyer, to participate in what you can call a demarcation inspection.

“We have to deal with the trafficking of people and kidnapping the accusation of a young child, a young little girl. In the absence of additional allegations or changes, we must assume that little Joslin is still alive.”

The trial will take place in Saldanha from Monday to March 28.
