The opening arguments reveal details in the case of filming | News, sports, jobs

Prosecutor Noah Johnson Daily Press Delta, Lauren Wickman, is preparing to show the jury a video surveillance video on which the filming took place.

The eschanga-process for a man who is supposed to shoot his former bitter started on Monday after the jury selection.

Jacob Chronick, 29 years old, now from Bark River, is accused of a number of criminal firearm and an attack number with the intention of doing a bodily evil than the murder or by strangulation.

The accusations come from the incident that produced at 8311 County Road 416 J Road. Chronick has previously lived at the residence, but since then he has moved.

The jury – consisting of 12 people, six men and six women – first heard the opening statements of each party. The jury also watched a video of the incident.

The incident took place on January 21, 2024, when Chronick’s ex -wife, Alexandria “Alex” Parrotta came to Chronick’s residence to take over some of his garage goods. Their divorce was completed in December 2023.

According to information provided in Open Court, her lover, Chris Dubord, and a work friend, Cody Richards, reached the residence of Chronick immediately after 10 in the morning, Alex and the two men drove and arrived one after the other.

In addition to the articles in the garage, Alex wanted to recover a tractor and called a local towing company when he reached the property.

Not long after Alex, Dubord and Richards arrived at Cronick’s house, Alex’s father, Eric Parrotta, and her uncle, John Parrotta, arrived in a truck to help Alex’s other three loads.

Chronick and Eric did not like each other and were not in good conditions, highlighted by the mobile phone materials captured by Chronick and Dubord, as well as a surveillance recording from a safety room positioned to see the way.

When Chronick saw Eric on his alley, he was close to him and told him he couldn’t be on his property. Chronick began to record on his phone, focused on his conversation with Eric.

In the video, Eric heard that he was there to help his daughter, which causes Chronick to tell Eric that he doesn’t care. Eric then tells Chronick to call the sheriff and the stuttering between the two continues.

During the argument, Alex asked Dubord to start the recording and did a minute or so, before returning to loading the articles in the garage. Alex and Eric continued to quarrel with chronick.

Eric and Chronick threw themselves briefly when Chronick put his hands on Eric, trying to get him to leave the property. Alex can be heard on the video by telling chronick not to touch her father and chronick answering, saying, “I told him to leave.” Alex replies saying that he didn’t care what he asked and dared to touch her father again.

Eric said he was there to make sure Cronick did not hurt his daughter again, referring to a previous incident between Alex and Chronick. Chronick denied Alex and said he had messages to prove that she actually hit him.

Following the statement, Eric shook his chronick’s phone in his hand. Chronick then grabbed Eric and slammed the hood of Alex’s car that was parked in front of the garage.

John and Richards were involved in the altercation, Richards putting the chronick in a chokehold. Dubord also got involved, trying to get the chronick by Eric, but eventually came out of diving. Eric managed to free herself and began to go from the garage, while John, Chronick and Richards still had an altercation.

Chronick was released and removed it before going back to the men holding a gun. Chronick hit Richards with his hand holding the gun and then threw Alex, who had begun to approach him.

John can be seen holding his hand in the video before Chronick pulled an Eric’s shot, hitting him in the abdomen. The bullet came out of the left.

After the five individuals left the property, Chronick grabbed his phone and rang at 911. He left the weapon inside the house, was downloaded and waited for the officers. He explained to the officers who replied that he was in self -defense and was later arrested after the officers obtained a search warrant for the supervisory materials.

During the opening statements, the Delta County Prosecutor, Lauren Wickman, told the jurors that it was their task to determine if Chronick was, without a doubt reasonable, saying that they will hear from several witnesses in the coming days.

“You will be asked to answer certain questions to fulfill those elements that you must prove beyond the reasonable doubt. I would ask (that you) take into account these questions while listening to the testimony, watch the videos and see all the evidence presented in the next few days. “ Said Wickman.

She said that the defense, led by lawyer Michael Boyle, will claim that Chronick acted on self -defense when the incident took place.

“The standard that the Court will train is whether … the defendant honestly and reasonably believes that he was in danger of being killed or seriously injured by Eric Parrotta,” she said.

She told the jury to take into account certain questions when she made this decision, such as whether or not Chronick’s actions were proportional to the force she was facing in Parrotta.

“I think at the end of this process, I will ask you to find the defendant guilty of counting one, the attack with the intention of doing a large bodily harm and the second count, the criminal fire weapon. Thank you, ” she said.

Boyle began his opening statements sharing Cronick’s prospect of that day, saying she was scared and acted in self-defense.

“Jake (chronick) acted in self -defense, still standing here in front of everyone, asking for someone else, rising for him.” Said Boyle.

He asked the jury to imagine he was chronick and fearing life after being suffocated for over 20 seconds with threats “Put it to sleep”, What the defense claimed that Chronick heard Richards saying while he was fixed on the hood of Alex’s vehicle.

“Imagine this, my client, in the safety of his own horse, was suddenly besieged by five people who launched a vicious attack. He was suffocated, leaving him not only physically vulnerable, but also mentally overwhelmed “,” “ Said Boyle.

He claimed that, in the midst of chaos, Chronick’s mind was overcome by fear and an authentic faith that one or multiple of the five individuals were armed. Boyle said when Chronick started getting up, heard someone saying, “He has his own, I receive mine”, And he saw one of the men opening the truck.

While Boyle described the incident, Chronick seemed visibly upset by hearing the events of the day.

“As I said, this takes place on Jake’s alley. This is home where someone should feel safe, but it certainly did not feel safe ”, said Boyle.

Boyle pointed to the state “Stay on your status on the ground”, who states that a person has no duty to withdraw, saying that he applies to Chronick and his actions. Boyle also spoke about Chronick’s actions with law enforcement after the incident.

“When the officers arrived, he invited him in because he was so cold. He told him where the firearm was. He was cooperative, he was a professional, he was kind and he was still scared ”,” Said Boyle.

After opening arguments, Wickman called Dubord at the witness stand.

Wickman went on Dubord through surveillance materials, identifying every person who appeared on television the property that morning.

Dubord said he thought the process of obtaining Alex’s goods would take about 10 minutes. He then said he noticed the argument between Eric and Chronick, when Alex asked him to record the confrontation. Finally, he recorded the registration while two were stumbling and began to catch more items in the garage.

Boyle sent screenshots with time stamps on the incident to determine how long chronick was suffocated. The video filming states that Chronick was suffocated for about 20 seconds, contrary to Dubord’s initial statement that Chronick was suffocated for 45 seconds.

Dubord said this was his memory at that time and everything happened so quickly at this time.

“Also, quickly, that your initial memory was that as soon as Jake took out of choking, he removed his weapon and shot immediately.” Said Boyle.

Dubord said that was his faith at the time.

The yard postponed a 10 -minute recession due to technical problems. The procedures will meet today at 9 am, with Dubord again on the stand for an examination redirected by criminal prosecution.
