Washington woman disappeared for almost a year, found dead in the crashed car in Oregon

A woman from Washington reported that she was missing almost a year ago was found dead in a crashed car in Oregon, according to Oregon State Police.

Evelyn Krystl Smith, who was 77 when she was last seen in her life, was reported missing from Anacortes in June 2024.

Authorities said that Smith’s last reported observation was at the border from Peace Arch in Blaine, where her car tried to go into Canada at about 16:15

The police said it was without the mobile phone or medicines at the time of its disappearance and may not be able to return home without assistance.

Oregon State Police said on Thursday, Smith’s car was found on a terrace on the 30th Highway in Colombia County. She was discovered dead in the car.

There are 253 miles between the crossing of the Washington and MilePost Border Border 58.5 in Colombia County. It would be a 4 -hour road without stopping.

Smith’s family was contacted, according to officials.

Her car was recovered and towed, and the state police said the investigation into her death is ongoing.
