Man sentenced to prison for sexual assault of the Beaverton hotel employee

Beaverton, hours. (KPTV)-A 31-year-old man will spend more than a decade of prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a hotel employee earlier this year, according to Washington County District.

Joshua Birjanu Powers was found guilty on February 26, by the first degree attempt, 1st degree rape attempt, two accusations of 1 -grade sexual abuse, third -degree sexual abuse, two accusations of aggression of the fourth degree and interference in carrying out a report.

Powers was then sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison.

The district lawyer’s office says that the incident happened on January 18, 2025 at an unnamed hotel in Beaverton.

Powers entered the hotel lobby and began to harass a 61 -year -old employee who was working at the office. Powers stuck it and then grabbed the body several times, exposed it and began to masturbate in front of the victim.

When the victim tried to call 911, Powers grabbed the phone from her and ended the call. Fortunately, 911 dispatchers were able to identify the victim’s location, and the officers came to stop the ongoing attack.

The attack was captured on the hotel surveillance cameras, as well as on the rooms worn by the body, said the district prosecutor.

The powers will be transferred to the Oregon Corrections Department to execute their sentence.
