The investigation for a series of robberies began after the officers received a report that a 96 -year -old woman was robbed and her stolen jewelry at her home in Little Hulton.

The victim, who has since died, used to travel regularly in the city center, using buses to go and have coffee with her friends and family, the police said.

On August 1, she met her loved ones before catching the bus in Piccadilly Gardens around 18:00. Mihaylov had followed her from Piccadilly Gardens to the house in Little Hulton.

When the victim entered her house, Mihaylov forcibly grabbed her to the necklace before snatching from her neck. The victim went to one of her neighbors for help and called the police.

We weeks later, on August 26, another 82-year-old victim was in the city center, who has traveled regularly to go shopping and visit his friends at local cafes.

He started going home, heading on Trinity Way and took a shortcut. Mihaylov followed him and felt a fist to the stomach, causing it to fall on the floor. Then he grabbed the jewelry around his neck and held his ears to take his earrings.

Fonism participated to take tampons from the area of ​​the victim’s ear and neck, both these areas were where her jewelry were forcibly, and DNA samples were sent for analysis. DNA has returned as a national data -based match, and Kiril Mihaylov was declared suspicious for the two robberies.

Then CCTV images were found, which showed a man whose face was covered, following the victim’s house while walking from the city center. A series of related robberies was identified after officers observed the resemblance of the two robberies

The day the day after August 27, at a property of SalfordA 80 -year -old man was reported, who went shopping in the city center. He returned home and later noticed that his high value was missing from the bedside table.

He started looking for his house and lowered the floor before he noticed that his terrace doors were destroyed. The victim reported that a man was in his property with a large knife in his hand that fled from the area.

Through evidence taken from previous robberies and after performing a series of CCTV investigations, Kiril Mihaylov was arrested for two robberies and a theft. Following a search for Mihaylov’s property, a distinctive clothing he wore during the crimes that fit with CCTV, the police revealed.

The officers also confiscated their mobile phone that had pictures of stolen items, a history of searching for how to sell these articles and details about sending a stealing clock to Bulgaria. The Omega clock belonging to one of the victims proved to be in transit with Mihaylov’s family in Bulgaria.

The officers were related to the law enforcement agencies and coordinated for the clock to be confiscated and returned to the UK.

Mihaylov, 30, from Hamilton Road in Levenshulmewas convicted during the 3 – eight years behind bars to The courtyard of the Manchester crown for two crimes of robbery and a crime of residential burglary.

Detective inspector Michael Shappplish of the Crime team in the Salford neighborhood, said: “Mihaylov’s actions were cowardly, he will systematically prey to the elderly they saw about their daily lives in the city center and would be at home, believing that they will be an easy target.

“As a team, we cannot thank the victims enough, because they came and supported our investigation. Their involvement helped us to ensure sufficient evidence to condemn Mihaylov and to make sure he cannot harm anyone.

“These incidents were particularly shocking, because he targeted the elderly. When he was talking to the victims, we could feel how much their independence and their days were appreciated to the city center. Mihaylov’s actions left them shaking and questioning their safety.

“I hope that knowing that they are now behind bars, this will give them a small measure of comfort and that they will continue to go with confidence in their daily lives, doing what is most enjoying.”
