In a significant movement against illegal immigration, the Directorate of Execution (ED) has issued summons to 11 recently deported Indian resorted resorted in the United States, as part of an ongoing investigation of travel agents that facilitate illegal migration through the “Dunki route”, The new Indian Express reported.

Tnie sOurces revealed that ED sent summons on Tuesday (March 4), instructing deportations to appear at his Jalandhar office at the specified data. Among them, at least one individual comes from Honyana, while the others are from Punjab.

The investigation falls within the Law on the prevention of money laundering (PMLA) and aims to pursue illicit financial transactions related to human trafficking.

The authorities revealed that 15 cases were initially analyzed, which led to the identification of 11 deportations, whose details and addresses were successfully obtained.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police has already registered 15 cases against travel agents based on complaints submitted by deportees after their Debriefing. However, sources indicated that ED has not yet officially requested these police records.

“Dunki Route” is a network developed by human trafficking, operated by scruples and records in several countries. Usually, it involves illegal migrants taking flights, passing through dense forests and crosses rivers to reach Mexico, from where it is illegally entering the United States.

The preliminary data collected by the state authorities after asking deportations at Amritsar International Airport revealed that over 44 Crore RS were paid to travel agents for these illegal travel.

It seems that each migrant spent between Rs 40 Lakh and Rs 50 Lakh to reach the US through this dangerous route. The United States has deported 345 Indian illegal immigrants so far, 131 people from Punjab reaching four separate lots.

These deportations intensified as a result of Donald Trump’s presidency, which started on January 20. The first deportation flight landed in Amritsar on February 5, transporting 104 immigrants, including 31 from Punjab.

The second flight, reaching February 15, brought 116 deportees, of which 65 were from Punjab. The third flight, on February 16, transported 112 deportees, with 31 coming from Punjab.

The final lot, which includes 12 people deported from Panama, arrived on February 23 through a Turkish Airlines commercial flight at Igi, Delhi airport, with four in Punjab.

The accession of migration to Western countries, especially among young people in Punjab, has been exploited by fraudulent travel agents who use various misleading means, including “Dunki route”, student visas and fictitious marriages.

In the last three years, the authorities in Punjab have registered 3,225 threads against the travel agents involved in human smuggling.

In addition, over 1,100 cases were submitted in accordance with Punjab the prevention of the law on human smuggling in 2012. With the intensification of its probe, the authorities are to follow the illicit money routes and dismantle the networks that allow illegal migration.
