Harith Iskander has fined RM10K over the “ham” joke, MCMC requests suspension on Facebook

In a statement on his official Facebook account last night, March 5, the Communications and Multimedia Commission in Malaysia (MCMC) said he received the approval from the Chambers of Prosecutor General (AGC) to impose the fine for the content and offensive comments related to Islam.

The Facebook user, Cecelia Yap, was also amended the same amount for his comments in accordance with Harith’s post, in accordance with section 233 of the 1998 communications and multimedia Law (abuse of network facilities). MCMC mentioned that the punishment was based on the provisions in force before last month’s changes.
