Wallie Breaden shares the perspective on how the wildlife confiscation has impact on rehabilitation efforts

Lawton, Okla. (KSWO) – The city of Lawton is commonly known as being limited on animal resources. Now, this issue has continued to decrease after Lawton’s welfare officials have confiscated the animals of the Local Rehabber Wallie Breden.

“I only slept two hours last night,” Breaden said. “He probably spent the rest and crying only because of what happened.”

Breaden takes care of injured animals within the community over 50, and in several cases, has been associated with the welfare of Lawton animals.

However, a complaint was sent to the office of the Lawton City manager on the state of his property, which led to the discovery of Breaden’s expired licenses. As a result, there is no real vision of what will happen next.

“He did a very good job for us and I explained that, without a license and things, we had to take action,” said Cliff Blasengame, the superintendent for the welfare of Lawton. “Based on the state of the residence at that time, something had to be done at that time.”

The actions taken were in the form of several tickets for violating the city’s ordinance, teaching all the animals that Breaden cared for and paying the city for cleaning.

The animals that have been taught included:

  • Two owls
  • Two colds
  • A Canadian goose
  • Two domestic geese
  • Six cocks

At this moment, the geese and roosters live in the welfare of Lawton animals, while the other animals have been distributed in other areas for care, such as Walters or Medicine Park Aquarium.

While Breaden said he understands circumstances, he was not appreciated by the way she was treated.

“The fact that I had so many people here and I ended up losing my animals with everything,” Breaden said. “Things have been taken for a long time. I didn’t expect anything. So yes, I am upset because of the way it has dropped. “

Breaden said he is in the air whether or not he can renew his license after conversations with the game guard.

Meanwhile, this situation has caused an outburst from those in the community that were helped by Breaden. One of these people is Ryleigh Kuhn, who started a petition with the hope of showing the city and state that many people are grateful for the service offered.

“I think he is a great guy. I think it’s generous. Everything he has done is kindness and it is difficult to meet people like this, ”Kuhn said. “It does a lot for a person, alone, for free. I do not get acknowledgment for this -they just turning it and treating it as they did it, it is not correct. “

Breaden said that, although this was a hard blow, he works actively to clean his property, to renew his license and to continue his family inheritance.

“I still have a lot to go and all I can do is take it in a day at some point,” Breaden said.

Bread has been offered a volunteer position at Lawton Animal Assistance, where it will be able to help the animals.
