Update: Kalamazoo shot considered accidental

Kalamazoo, Mich. – The shooting that left a hospitalized child and another in arrest was the “accidental” rule, says the Public Security Department of Kalamazoo (KDPS).

It happened on Wednesday night around 7:15 pm on Clinton Ave near Bank St.

KDPS has updated the socialization post on the incident, reminding all the owners of weapons to block their firearms in accordance with the secure storage law of Michigan, which entered into force last year.

The child who was shot, a 12 -year -old girl was last listed in stable condition.

A 16 -year -old boy that investigators say has fired the trigger remains in police custody. Detectives continue to work in case, and other people may be detained. No accusations have been filed.
