Sheriff: The man hit the correction officer in prison in Montgomery County

A man from Amsterdam is accused of assaulting a correction officer while in prison in Montgomery County.

Matthew Kleabonas, 64, hit the officer and hit him with a chair while he was inside a living unit on Tuesday, March 4, said the Sheriff’s office in Montgomery County.

The officer was injured, but the police said he is doing well and expects to return to the normal debt.

Kleabonas, 64, was accused of attacking the second degree, threats and obstructing the government administration. He was notified to Glen Town Court and sent back to the prison in Montgomery County, waiting for a future appearance in the future court.
