Husband would have stabbed his wife to death during the argument at Ogun

A 36-year-old housewife named Josephine Isaac, was reported dead, after her husband had stabbed her in the throat and chest during an argument in Ogun State.

The incident took place on Thursday around 1 o’clock, in the Agbure community, the Ogun Waterside area of ​​the state.

The suspect, simply identified as Oju, was said to have stabbed his wife several times with a knife when the argument escalated into physical violence.

Really realizing the severity of her wounds, he fled from the spot, abandoning his wife in a blood basin.

The victim was immediately in a hurry at the General Hospital of Ibiade by the persons concerned, where he gave in to her wounds.

Confirming the incident, the public relations officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Hologel Odula, told the Daily Post that the incident was related to the divisional command by the younger sister of the victim, Isaac Blessing.

She said: “On March 6, 2025, around 9:30, the headquarters of the Divisional Police Abigi received a suffering report of the smaller sister of the victim, Isaac Blessing.

“She said that at about 1 in the morning, Josephine had a misunderstanding with her husband, identified as Oju (full name still to be confirmed), which is of Calabar origin.

“The altercation escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect stabbed his wife several times in the throat and chest with a knife.”

According to Odutola, when receiving the report, the detectives of the order quickly visited the crime site to gather evidence and launched a handicity for the running husband.

She mentioned that the corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and the preliminary investigations are in progress.

“The case will be transferred to the Department of State Criminal Investigation (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigations.

“Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a suspect manhunt and assures the public that no effort will be saved to bring him to court.

“We are calling for anyone who has useful information about the place where the suspect is to relate to the nearest police station or to contact the Emergency lines of the Command,” added Odula.

However, the police commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo, strongly condemned the act of violence in the family, asking couples to seek peaceful means of solving disputes, rather than resorting to violence.

Ogunlowo also encouraged victims of domestic abuse to speak and seek timely intervention from law enforcement agencies and relevant assistance groups.
