Ncic sends the Dialog team to Transmaara following the deadly confrontations

President of the National Commission of Cohesion and Integration Samuel Kobia

The National Commission for Cohesion and Integration (NCIC) sent a team to Kisii and Transmara to facilitate the dialogue following the deadly confrontations.

President Ncic, Samuel Kobia said that the team was sent in collaboration with the local management, security agencies and community representatives.

“We remain steadfast in promoting harmonious coexistence, by asking all communities to embrace non-purple mechanisms for conflict resolution,” he said.

Kobia has requested religious leaders, organizations of civil society and old community to join the hands with the Commission to favor the reconciliation and to promote the unit.

“The Commission, in partnership with the relevant law enforcement agencies, will take decisive legal and legal measures against the persons or groups that are found to orchestrate or perpetuate these confrontations,” he said.

He said that the people of Transmara and Kisii deserve a sustainable peace, which can only be obtained through collective efforts and a common commitment for national cohesion.

“Our strength consists in our diversity and only through mutual unity and respect can we build a peaceful and prosperous nation. Therefore, we ask each Kenian to reject the division and join the hand in pursuing a durable peace for all, ”he asked.

Kobia said that Ncic is deeply concerned about the ongoing confrontations in Transmaara and Kisi, who led to the loss of life, the destruction of the property and the increased tension among the communities.

“We expand the deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones in this unfortunate violence and empathize with those who are currently under treatment in various hospitals, as a result of this violence, as well as those whose property has been destroyed. We strongly condemn violence and ask for immediate cessation of hostilities, ”he said.

Kobia reminded Kenians that incitement to violence and hate speech are offenses under the national cohesion and integration law, 2008.

“Therefore, we warn the perpetrators, especially those who activate violence, spread hatred or disrupt the peace of the community will face the entire force of the law, regardless of their life station,” he added.

Two people have died, and more than 20 others are breastfeeding arrows following the renewed confrontations along the Transmara border.

It seems that the violence, determined by the escalation of tensions on the crushing of cattle, has also led to the destruction of dozens of sugar cup plantations, which were established.
