Arrest made in robbery incident on MacArthur Circle

Evansville, ind. (WFIE) – officials of the Evansville Police Department report that a man involved on Wednesday was arrested.

According to a press release, the officers responded to a holding restraint in the 1000 block of MacARthur around 5:45 pm

The officers say that the victim, an owner who collects rent, told them that she was forced by her vehicle and robbed.

She reported that the suspect, later identified as Edward Layne Klueg II, was close to her vehicle while wearing a mask.

The owner told Klueg police and then reached the vehicle, grabbed the victim, slammed it to the ground and then took objects from the vehicle.

A nearby tenant was a witness to the attack and was able to intervene, chasing Klueg away from the victim.

The witness noticed that Klueg ran away from the spot, jumping over a fence and entering a truck parked in a nearby batch.

A small amount of money was taken, together with the payment of the victim’s rent, the payment of Excel Excel.

The witness managed to capture photos of the suspect’s vehicle as he fled from the scene and provided the photos of the respondent officers.

The press release states that the photos helped the officers to follow Klueg’s vehicle, which was at a nearby residence.

Klueg was transported to the police station for query, where he denied any involvement in the robbery.

A signed search warrant was executed at both his residence and his vehicle.

Inside his vehicle, the officers found that the victim’s Excel logs and a mask that matches the one worn during the incident was also located in the garage.

Klueg was arrested and reserved in prison in Vanderburgh County, under the following accusations:

  • Jaf (Crime of Level 3)
  • Battery – Body injury (an offense)
