Trafficking in traffic stop 2 kilograms of fentanil, enough to kill everyone in Etowah County, ”says the sheriff

A stop of traffic in East Alabama has led to the biggest fentanil confiscation in Etowah County.

The traffic stop, which took place on Tuesday, gave more than two kilograms of pure fentanel.

“It takes two milligrams – and this was over 2.2 kilograms – of Fentanil to kill a human being,” said Sheriff Jonathan Horton.

“There is enough fentanel in this package to kill everyone in Etowah County. How deadly this substance is. “

Tostig Denard Moore, 40 years old, from Attalla, is accused of drug trafficking and is owned in the Etowah County Detention Center on a cash bond of $ 1 million.

Horton said that Moore has a previous condemnation of armed robbery. In addition, he was arrested in 2009 for weapons offenses and was currently related to methamphetamine traffic.

The active criminal unit of the sheriff stopped on Tuesday on Moore as part of an ongoing prohibition operation aimed at drug trafficking.

Deputies Lucas Hallmark and the summer deputy, Doran, initiated the traffic violation on the 431 motorway in the Glenco area.

During stop, K-9 “Tedi” alerted the deputies on the presence of illegal drugs, which led to a vehicle search. The deputies found the kilogram of fentanil inside in the rear seat, packaged with the Louis Vuitton monogram.

“I’m sure it’s not Louis Vuitton’s permission,” Horton said. “It should have been marked with Grim Reaper, because this is.”

“Many substances- marijuana, pills, metth, heroin, heroin- are usually lace with fentanel,” Horton said.

Only last year, said the sheriff, the deputies of Etowah County held on the narcan about 40 times. Narcan is a nasal spray used to reverse the effects of an opioid emergency situation that can endanger life.

Almost 75 percent of deaths by overdose in the county, said Horton, included fentanil in toxicology reports.

“Fentanil is a very, very deadly substance,” Horton said. “Just because someone has a problem of substance abuse, whether it is pills or marijuana or cocaine, can receive by mistake in the lace in those drugs that result in their death.”

The drug application unit in Etowah County replied and took over the investigation. The Police Department of Rainbow, the Southside Police Department and FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force have assisted.

“This was a large amount of drugs removed from the streets, which really saved, without saying how many lives they should have reached their destination and be left in other medicines or sold directly as it is,” said Horton.
