Man arrested for carjacking, attack in Bessemer

Bessemer, Ala. (WBRC) – A man was arrested for a carjacking and an attack in Bessemer on Tuesday, March 4th.

Police say a woman gave a man a walk in the 1800 Bessemer Road block. The man forcefully pushed the woman from her vehicle, then left, hitting and hurting her.

The police identified the suspect that Amana Amos, 24, from Birmingham.

BPD quickly responded on the spot and gathered detailed information and collaborated with the real -time crime center. A bolo was issued for the stolen vehicle and the last known location of Amos.

The police say that, through joint efforts with the BPD robbery unit and the Bessemer Police Department, the suspect was detained by the Bessemer police in Dartmouth Avenue and 25th Street to the south in Bessemer, in an hour from Carjacking.

On Wednesday, robbery detectives have obtained mandates for the first degree robbery and second -degree attack.

Amos is owned in the Jepharson County prison without bond.
