The Union asks the Discotec workers Ikeja to stay home

The National Union of Electricity employees has guided all the staff to stay away from work.

This came from Thursday’s attack on his members of the Ikeja Electric Lagos headquarters, by men of the Nigerian air forces from the Base of Air Force Ethnan in Ikeja.

The Union told IkedC staff to stay at home until additional notification, because it cannot work under brutality, intimidation and threat to life.

A statement by the interim Secretary General of Nuee, Dominic Igwebike, condemned IkedC invasion.

Our correspondent, who was also brutalized by armed men, reports as they stormed the Ikeja disco around 7:40 on Thursday.

They invaded the headquarters in a military truck and many OP-Mesa vehicles.

The journalists and the staff were beaten, harassed and molested during the siege that lasted over an hour and a half.

Reacting, the union said, may be obliged to withdraw their services at national level until its members are guaranteed safety and protection at work.

“As a result, our members are advised to remain outside the office until further notification, because we cannot work under brutality, intimidation and threat to life until ensuring the safety of life and properties.
Otherwise, we will have no choice but to withdraw our services at national level until we are guaranteed safety and protection at work ”, directed the union.

The Union also said: “The National Union of Electricity employees condemns strongly, this shareholder because of the army. We request an enterprise from the management, the Federal Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Defense to protect our members from any traumatic attack in this regard. We ask the Ministry of Defense to call their people to order.

“We also request that all the properties of the personnel who have been taken or destroyed are replaced, and those beaten to be taken to the hospital for adequate medical treatment.”
