Man convicted for role in drug trafficking sent from California to Downeast Maine

Bangor, Maine (Wabi) – a California man was sentenced to the US District Court on Thursday for conspiracy for the distribution of methamphetamine and money laundering.

Alex Hanna, 31, was sentenced to 11 1/2 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Hanna pleaded guilty on March 14, 2024.

The judicial registrations show that between May 2022 and March 2023, Hanna and others treated Meth in Downeast tomorrow, receiving drugs by post from a California source.

Hanna coordinated the drug transport from the source and found co-conspirators here willing to receive the packages.

He also sent money from the sale of their drugs through Walmart2walmart, Cash App and Venmo, using the IDs and accounts to hide their involvement in transactions.

The FBI investigated the case with the assistance of the US post inspection service, the Ellsworth Police Department, the drug application Agency, the Holden Police Department and the Sheriff’s office in Hancock County.
