Bozeman’s Police Academy begins on March 27

This free eight -week program shows how it is to be a real police officer.

Participants will experience travelers, simulated traffic stops, will be simulated investigations of the crime scene, learn forensic techniques and connect with active officers serving the community.

Bozeman police that accept requests for the Spring Citizens Police Academy

Bozeman, Montana (March 7, 2025) – Have you ever asked how it is really to be a Bozeman police officer? Now is your chance to find out! The Bozeman Police Department now accepts requests for its ethical citizens’ Academy, a dynamic program, behind the scenes, designed to connect the community with the officers who serve it.

Leaded by the new BPD Community resources officer, Breanne Sanders, this free, full of action program, is held for eight weeks, meeting on Thursday evening from 18 to 21:00 of March 27 at Bozeman Public Safety Center (901 N. Rouse Ave).

“The Citizen Police Academy is more than a class – it is an experience,” said the Breanne Sanders Community Resource officer. “You will step into the world of police work, address real scenarios and get a better understanding of the challenges that officers face while building stronger connections with our team.”

Participants will not observe only for the action, from travel and simulated traffic stops to investigations at the crime site and forensic techniques. Each week offers something new, keeping the interactive and entertaining program.

“This is not just a course of stay-you are in action, obtaining first-hand knowledge from the Bozeman police officers with experience,” said Officer Sanders. “We want to see what we do, how we do it and why it matters.”
