Academic staff of Sokoto State University suspends strike

The State University of Sokoto, SSU, the chapter of the Academic Union of Universities, Asuu, stopped the indefinite strike to allow the academic activities without delay.

The decision was taken after a congress on March 4, 2025, where the members of ASUU examined the result of a conciliation meeting between the state government and the Union leadership.

The members voted to suspend the strike and the National Executive Council of ASUU subsequently granted the approval for action following the thorough discussions regarding the Government’s proposal.

Dr. Saidu Abubakar and Hassan Aliyu, ASUU President SSU and the Secretary, respectively, confirmed the resolution, saying that all members were directed to resume the work immediately.

The strike, which started on February 26, 2025, resulted from unresolved issues with the state government.
