Officials say that heavy rains in Argentina kill at least 15; Dozens are missing

Buenos Aires (AP) – The abundant rains that have flooded a city on the East Coast of Argentina in the last few days have killed at least 15 people, officials said on Sunday.

The rescue teams searched for dozens of others reported missing, including two girls and two adults. The authorities said that they were swept by the flooded waters unleashed by the rains that began to be interwoven in the city of Bahía Blanca.

The crews evacuated over 1,450 people from the city south of the capital Buenos Aires. Those evacuated include patients from a local hospital.

About 12 centimeters (300 millimeters) of rain fell in Bahía Blanca in the last days, when the monthly historical average is about 5 centimeters (129 millimeters).

No rain was forecast for the next 72 hours.
