Suspects of theft arrested after confrontation near Gerlach

Gerlach, nev. – On March 7, the deputies responded to a residence near Gerlach following a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, they found an immobilized truck and made contact with its only occupant, Emily Hamilton.

Subsequent research revealed that a second suspect, Anthony Messmann, was present, but fled before the arrival of deputies. The victim reported that he had faced Hamilton and Messmann after discovering his property, causing Messmann to leave the area on the floor.

A vehicle search has discovered several articles belonging to the victim, burglary tools and three firearms. The Regional Unit for Aviation Application (Raven) was carried out to help locate Messmann, but was not found immediately.

Hamilton was arrested and reserved in the detention unit in Washoe County on charge of residential burglary, attempted residential burglary and holding a controlled substance below 14 grams, all crimes.

The next day, on March 8, deputies located Messmann going on High Rock Road. He was arrested without incident and reserved in the detention unit in Washoe County on charge of residential burglary, attempted residential burglary and being a forbidden person holding a firearm, all crimes.
