Scotmid hit by the prolific Inverness Shoplifter

A 53 -year -old Inverness man who has committed 45 previous selling offenses over the past 11 years, has appeared from arrest and admitted another similar charges.

Iain Lindsay, from Lawers Way, had been arrested on the mandate after not previously appeared for a Inverness Sheriff Court Hearing and pleaded guilty to stole alcohol worth 21 pounds from Scotmid to Hilton, on July 9 and 17 last year.

Sheriff Iain Cruickshank said that none of them was recovered.

Depending, Graham Mann said that his client is “fragile”, but remained in a drink for some time until last year.

“His father died and now he was diagnosed with the same condition that his father had. He was a rarer visitor in court in 2019, after having been drinking for several years.

“But he fell from the cart after his father died.”

Cruickshank sheriff agreed to postpone the sentence until April 17 for a substantive report and released Lindsay on bail.
