Hawks from the northern head welcomed the condemnation of the former Municipal Manager of Karo Hoogland, Louis Nothnagel, for theft.

Nothnangel, 63, was sentenced to Kimberley COMERCIAL CRIMES COURT on Tuesday to four years of direct prison and also received to pay R500,000 to the state.

The spokesman of the province of Hawks, Lieutenant -the Colonel Tebogo Thebe, said he was convicted in July last year for 26 charges and 53 charges of contravening the Law on municipal finance management.

A co-accused, former chief financial officer, died shortly after being arrested in February 2013.

The court heard that Notthnagel and the regretted CFO collided to pay each other performance bonuses without the approval of the Council and contraventing the MFMA.

Anri Botha, fifty -three, the wife of the late CFO, was convicted for an alternative number for theft and money laundering.

Thebe said she was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay back R200,000.

The head of the hawks in the general-general-general Stephen Mabuela congratulated the activity of its members and criminal prosecution.

“The corruption of the local administration must be arrested at some point. This conviction sends the right message, ”he said.
