Chris Godwin, Bucs bet on each other … again

Chris Godwin, Bucs bet on each other … again

Chris Godwin, the second passing passenger in the history of the franchise in Tampa Bay Bucaneers, will remain around these numbers and to continue his historical combined production with Mike Evans Hall of Fame, Mike Evans. This was confirmed on Monday when Godwin agreed to terms At a new three-year transaction, the fourth he signed with Buccaneers has a year of franchise label in 2021.

Godwin came to the Adventhealth Training Center to put Pen on paper on that new offer on Wednesday, then blocked to talk to the media. All this came the day before the free agency period from 2025 from the NFL, the waters that Godwin could have tested if he had chosen to do so. Godwin got a high -qualified high -qualified business from Buccaneers, but there is an general sense that there were even more profitable offers that were waiting for him on the open market.

The general manager, Jason Licht, recognized as much when the two sat together at the press conference table on Tuesday. Licht actually directed his gratitude on behalf of the team directly to the ninth year, with Godwin’s wife, Mariah, who looked while holding their two-month-old son.

“This is just the type of person Chris is,” Licht said. “I know you left what some would say (is) generative money (on the table), and people always give us kudos because they bet Chris during his wounds, but he and Mariah, bet on us and do everything we can do for you and follow another ring.”

Licht referred to the fact that, for the second time in four years, Bucaneers invested Hodwin in several seasons even after coming from a significant injury. An ACL torn in week 15 ended the 2021 season of the receiver earlier, but Bucneers continued to apply the franchise label on him a few months later for a second year in a row, before the two parties quickly develop a long -term transaction to replace it. This time, Godwin returns from a frightening ankle dislocated in week seven of season 2024 against Baltimore.

“It really means that the world to me, because I feel that things like this is not just the case,” said Godwin from the two post-accentuation commitments. “For a guy to have gone through what I passed and as you said, in two years of contract, and to be able to make a transaction with the team I am, I think, very rare. Speak the type of person in which they are, for their confidence, with the faith in me and that I will put the work to not be the player in which I was, but I will be good.”

Godwin caught a 104 career passages after the knee injury, while producing the second of his three direct 1,000 courts. He was gone to a scary beginning in 2024, after moving to Liam Coen’s new crime, leading the league in receptions and Yac for up to seven weeks, while ranked third in receiving the yards and scored five touchdows. A triple welcoming crown was not in question.

Godwin’s total devotion to his 2022 rehabilitation has obviously gave Bucs’s confidence that he would return as strongly from his last injury, but other teams around the League is likely to be as convinced and ready to open the check book. After Bengalii placed the franchise label on Tee Higgins a few weeks ago, Godwin was widely considered as the most coveted broad receiver, with the chance to reach the open market. No one could have blamed him for listening to other offers, but the solution he chose in Tampa was the right financial and comfort mixture for him and his family.

“I think that, to what was reduced, honestly, it was a family and it was only faithful to whom I am,” Godwin said to stay with Bucs. “I feel that nine out of 10 people in this position would not necessarily have made the decision I made, but I do not do the things I do on the basis of what other people would do. I trust my intestine and remain faithful to whom I am. One thing I have never done is to make decisions only on the basis of money.

“I think I am lucky enough to be in this position and to be here at this meal. This is a position that not many people had.

Not only the interpersonal relationships and the links with the community caused Godwin to climb Buccaneers again. After seeing what could have been his best season, but he slipped in the middle last fall, Godwin is eager to see what can produce the Bucs crime in 2025. He was delighted by the promotion of Josh Grizzard at the offensive coordinator Afer Coen, knowing that he will work with hazardous weapons. Even without Godwin after the seventh week, Bucs still finished in the first five in the mark, courtyards, courtyards and total courtyards.

“I think the beautiful thing is how this team is set up,” Godwin said. “We have a lot of players all over the field and I think I had a very good view of it when I hurt myself, when Mike hurt me and I was still one of the best crimes in the league. For myself, I look at it, because there is a world of opportunities there and not just for myself, but for all of us.
