Viewing the Basketball of the College for Women Show Life in the First Seas after Caitlin Clark

While no one expected College Hoops for women to match the viewing numbers by Caitlin Clark from last season, Sport has held their own season this season in a series of networks.

ESPN networks notice the best season of Hoops College Women from 2008-09, on average 280,000 spectators in ESPN, ABC, ESPN2 and ESPNU (87 games). This is 3% compared to last year and 41% compared to two seasons ago (ESPN did not broadcast many regular season games of Caitlin Clark last season). ESPN on its own 511,000 game spectators, the Anchor cable network increased by 13%.

There were 15 games in those ESPN networks on average over 500,000 spectators, most in a single season. Three games were over 1 million, driven by Uconn-South Carolina (1.8 million) and Lsa-FEXAS (1.7 million) on February 16 on ABC. The two games were the best games of the regular season of the company in 2010.

In the sport, ESPN had seven of the first 10 games for women this season.

On Saturday, Fox wore for the first time the semifinals of the Big East women tournament. Uconn-Villanova registered an average of 748,000 spectators, while the other semifinal (Creighton-Seton Hall) registered an average of 394,000 spectators. FS1 won Ukonn’s win on Monday in the female final, attracting 492,000 views in Primetime, marking the best Fox Sports final for the female event. Generally, the tournament on Fox, FS1 and FS2 registered an average of 269,000 spectators – a record for Fox Sports and 74% compared to last season.

The best title game of the women’s conference belonged to the CBS, who won UCLA on USC late Sunday afternoon. That 1.44 million shows also mark the second best public for a Big Ten’s title game, behind Clark and Iowa’s victory (3.02 million). The Big Ten Network also had the second female tournament the best record (210,000 spectators over 10 games), but down than 361,000 last year (still 141% compared to two seasons). The women in Iowa had the two best BTN audiences during the conference tour, reflecting a trend seen in the regular season 2024-25.

The next test will be during the NCAA tournament for women, which will be broadcast on ESPN networks.
