A Boardman man lost $ 9,000 after the police said he had fallen victim to a scam on the phone.

According to a police report, the man received an appeal from a scammer depicting his son who was accompanied by another scam that imposed a lawyer who claims that the victim’s son had concluded a pregnant woman and blamed.

Police say the victim said that his son needs $ 9,000 to be saved from prison and not tell anyone else about it, because he could delay his son’s release, and the man told the scam he would have to wait until the bank opened on Monday.

According to the report, the scammers called back on Monday and told him to withdraw the $ 9,000 from his bank account and they still told him not to tell the bank why he does this and to say that it is for home improvements, if requested.

Once he got the money, the scammers told the man to turn the money into Bitcoin to pay the bail. The police say he complied and said that his son should be in touch.

Police say the scams called back the next day this time, saying that the child of pregnant woman has died, and the man now had to pay $ 5,000 for funeral expenses and cover the obligation for an accusation of murder against his son.

The man told the scams that he would have to check with the bank to see if he had the money. The police say that only after the man sent him his son, he realized he was deceived.

At this moment, no arrests were made and no accusations have been filed with the deception.
