Finanznachrichten news

Brusels (DPA -AFX) – the Estonia commercial deficit in January increased compared to the same month last year, because imports increased faster than exports, Estonia statistics on Wednesday.

The commercial deficit increased to EUR 331 million in January from EUR 246 million in the same month. In December, the commercial gap was 393 million EUR.

The exports were 13.0 percent larger from one year to year in January, and the imports were 16.0 percent larger.

The data showed that in the intra-EU trade, exports increased by 11 percent and imports by 9 %. In the extra trade, the growth was 19 percent in exports and up to 57 percent in imports.

“Exports to non-EU countries have been mainly influenced by larger exports of goods in the United States, and imports from these countries have been increased by increased imports from Turkey,” said Jane LeppMets, commercial analyst at Estonia statistics.
