Woman accused, 4 saved from the human trafficking ring to the massage salons in Oakland counties, Wayne

Oakland County, Mich. – A woman in Livonia has been accused of a trafficking investigation by people involving illegal activities at the massage salons in Oakland and Wayne, officials said.

Zixuan Wan, 44, was accused of two charges of human trafficking and keeping a prostitution room after a four-month investigation on the massage rooms that the woman operated on.

Four women from China who do not speak English were saved by three separate Wan massage salons, said Oakland County Prosecutor, Karen McDonald, at a press conference on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Investigators learned that women were forced to live in the massage rooms in Commerce Township, Farmington Hills and Westland, working from 9:00 to 22:00 seven days a week. Provided massages to a largely male clientele.

The prosecutor said they have no access to transport, medical care or friends and family.

In addition, women are supposed to have received no minimum payment for their work.

Although there is evidence that the victims have been forced to participate in sexual work, the case also highlights the problem of work traffic, according to the prosecutor.

“Traffic, whether it is a labor force and, in this case, there are elements of both, there was a promise for work once they came to this country, sex traffic, it all depends on a critical thing – a vulnerable victim.”

The accusations come after the Prosecutor’s Office in Oakland county brought together officials and professionals in the field of mental health for a course of trafficking in person last year.

In November 2024, just a few days after receiving this training, Farmington Hills police started investigating Wan.

While investigated Wan’s Massage Massage Show in Pharmington Hills, they found out that the Special Investigation Unit of the Westland Police Department and the Special Sheriff’s investigative unit in Oakland county also investigated other massage businesses that worked in their jurisdictions.

There was a coordinated investigation, and on March 5, the authorities carried out search warrants at the woman’s massage business in Farmington Hills, Commerce Township and Westland, her house in Livonia and banks where the authorities believed that illegal funds were submitted.

Investigators have identified houses, vehicles and commercial real estate that seem to have been paid through this criminal enterprise.

About $ 140,000 in cash were confiscated from a safety storage box associated with the suspect during the investigation.

The women were saved and taken to the Common Ground and Care House in Oakland County to receive services for the victims.

“Finally, I want to say only to the customers of these illicit massage salons, that a sexual massage may seem a crime without victims or a consensual transaction, but for the victims of traffic, they do not have the ability to consent,” said McDonald. “It is not a crime without victims. Assume -they take responsibility for how your actions can afford the traffic and abuse of vulnerable women. ”

And if this is not enough to make a prompt change, McDonald said that her office can and will criminally pursue customers who do business with sex traffickers.

Wan was notified on Thursday, March 6, 2025, and a guilt was introduced on her behalf.

It was granted a personal connection of $ 100,000 with the conditions in which its passport must be delivered and that it must carry a GPS link, if issued.

Its preliminary examination conference is set for March 21.

“The successful result of this investigation is the result of the powerful partnerships that the Farmington Hills Police Department maintains with agents throughout Oakland and beyond,” said the head of the Farmington Hills, John Piggott, in a statement. “I am constantly impressed by the men and women in the Police Department Farmington Hills, who are constantly looking for training opportunities and bring the skills learned back to the department. These skills lead directly to an intervention on the application of the law, saving these vulnerable women from further operation. Due to their excellent work and our collaboration with external agencies, a hazardous trafficker will be held accountable. “

The boss also asked residents and business owners to report to authorities unusual business activities.

The investigation is ongoing and additional taxes are expected.
