Brieonna Cassell in surgery after surviving for 6 days after the Newton car accident; Good Samaritan Johnny Martinez speaks

Newton County, Ind. (WLS) – A mother from Indiana found life in a ditch after she disappeared for almost a week she still recovers in a hospital.

ABC7 spoke on Wednesday with the good Samaritan who found his vehicle while he was driving his tractor.

On Wednesday, Brieonna Cassell had a surgery supporter Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawwn.

She was found in her car on Tuesday, after collapsed in a ditch from Rural Newton County, Indiana.

Her family said that the accident left it with significant compound fractures on both legs.

“I didn’t know what happened to her. I didn’t know where she was. She was scary,” said daughter Lexie Cassell.

Cassell was alone for almost six days, stuck in her vehicle after falling asleep at the wheel and left the road on a ditch from the cars that pass.

A contractor, Johnny Martinez, operating equipment when he noticed her car. After warning his supervisor, they discovered Cassell alive, breathing and aware.

“I don’t see smoke … I can’t see lights … nothing, so it’s weird because I saw the car, but I don’t see anyone,” Martinez said.

Martinez said he and his partner managed to return there to help him. He said he couldn’t believe Cassell was still alive, after she told him he had entered a week before.

“The moment is perfect … The sheriff said,” You are a hero “, because the lady was here six days and no one saw it,” Martinez said.

30 -year -old friend Jamie Tidwell said she knows in her intestine what happened.

“Her children mean a lot to her, so I think she really struggles to make sure she returned to her children,” Tidwell said.

Cassell said that her mother screamed for help, made signs to keep up to her window and even put the car in the neutral to slip in the stream closer to the fresh water to drink.

But, as the days and nights passed, she says that her mother acknowledged that her will to survive.

“She said she kept her hope, struggled and continued to try, but on Tuesday morning, she said she woke up and was ready to give up, and then found it,” her daughter said.

Lexie Cassell said that at this moment doctors do not know if they will be able to save his mother’s feet.

ABC7 is still waiting on Wednesday night to find out how that operation went, but the family remains optimistic. They are just happy to have their mother at home.
