Police guardian who investigated after the man agitated, seriously injured at Duffer Mall

The police guardian in Ontario says he is investigated after a man was severely cut and injured at Duffer Mall in West End in Toronto earlier this week.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 8:00 pm, according to Monica Hudon, a spokeswoman for the special investigation unit (SIU).

The details are rare, but Hudon said that a loser prevention officer “involved in an interaction” with a 37-year-old man.

A Toronto police officer, then “became aware of what was happening” and removed the man, which led him to fall to the ground, Hudon said.

The man was arrested and taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with serious injury, she said. Hudon did not provide additional information about the nature of the injury or the condition of the man.

Hudon added two investigators and a forensic investigator, Hudon added.
