Canada emits travel advisers with virus warnings for these hot holidays

In the last weeks of winter, many Canadians are heading for a hot travel place.

As the tariff war continues with the US, some travelers are Avoiding American destinations such as Florida or California.

Alternative points for a sunny holiday, such as the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Bahamas, have a new opinion for a virus transmitted by mosquitoes called Chikungunya. There are also many other tips to have a safer holiday in these popular places.

The federal government maintains a consulting and counseling page for travelers to help travelers make the knowledge and to travel safely outside Canada.

They analyze the trends and incidents that affect international travelers, monitor world events and collect updated reports from different sources.

Here are some countries with travel notices:

Bahamas

Risks: High crime rates, especially in Nassau and Freport, and Chikungunya.

Reasons: Small crimes, such as pickpocketing and brushing bags, can occur in tourist areas. Sales also appear in the terminals of cruise ships and in the popular resort areas and around Nassau and Freport, even in the living hours. Increased crime during holidays, festivals and kingdoms.

The counselor was recently updated for the risk of Chikungunya. Identified for the first time in 1952 In Tanzania, the virus is spread by biting an infected mosquito. Can cause fever and joint pain. In some cases, joint pain may be severe and lasts for months or years.

Costa Rica also has an updated opinion for Chikungunya.


Cuba

Risks: Lack of basic needs, including food, medicines and fuel and chikungunya.

Reasons: Cuba is experiencing electricity interruptions at national level of October 18, 2024. The electrical system is vulnerable and additional interruptions may occur. Previous interruptions persist in some places and the regular reduction of electricity, occur regularly for power conservation.

Most hotels and big resorts use generators during energy interruptions. However, it may not be able to maintain their services in case of extended interruption.

Cuba also has an updated opinion for Chikungunya.


Chile

Risks: Demonstrations in progress and civil disorders and Chikungunya.

Reasons: Small crimes, such as pickpocketing, outbuilding and theft of vehicles, can occur in any parts of the country. However, you should remain particularly vigilant in larger cities.
