Habal-Habal driver is facing rapes with robbery charges

A 22-year-old student who worked as a part-time driver (Taxi Motorcycle) was arrested on Thursday, March 13, 2025, because he had a 21-year-old female therapist at South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City.

The police identified the suspect that Jeff Nathaniel Manto, 22, resident in Burgos St., Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City.

According to the victim, known by Alias ​​Fe, she reserved a walk through a walk around 3 in the morning to leave home from F. Cabahug St., Barangay Kasambagan.

Since the trip lasted too long to reach, she has canceled the reservation.

While on the road, the driver stopped at a bridge from SRP near mambaling, saying he has to urinate.

The suspect then declared a robbery, threatened the victim with a screwdriver, and warned that he would kill her if he was resisting.

The suspect took the victim’s mobile phone, evaluated at P20,000 and P2.500 in cash. He then took it to a dark area and raped it.

The suspect fled, leaving the victim on the spot. The victim requested the help from the passing of the motorists and was brought to the Mambaling Police Section to report the incident.

The police carried out a tracking operation around 6 in the morning and followed the GPS location of the motorcycle, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The authorities recovered the victim’s mobile phone, the screwdriver used in the suspect’s crime and motorcycle, but the money was not recovered.

The suspect acknowledged crime and said he hired him to pay for schooling.

Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy director of the city for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, congratulated the victim for prompt reporting, which led to the rapid arrest of the suspect.

Macatatangay asked the public, especially women, to remain vigilant when using travel services and advised passengers to take a photo of the vehicle or motorcycle.
