Goa HC Geo-Mare in one year to track illegal constructions The latest India news

Panji: The Goa government will have to complete “Geo-Mapping” in a year to help track illegal constructions, the High Court of Bombay, Goa, ordered on Saturday, while criticizing the state government because it did not take measures against illegal construction mushrooms.

The court heard a petition of Suo-Motu, after receiving several petitions that claimed the Government’s inaction about illegal constructions.

“The open spaces are incorporated. The paddy fields are transformed without any permission and in violation of the legal provisions … Illegal constructions are also put in development areas. The competent authorities either do not take measures against such illegal activities, or avoid taking such actions. This has led to a wholesale change of the landscape in the state of Goa of illegal constructions so wide and rampant, without any authority of law, ”said a bank of justice, Mrs. Karnik and Lawdita Mehta.

The court said that people often claim that illegal construction has been exist for a long time. “The solution to this is to perform geo-mapping. Once the whole state is Geo map, it will be easier to control the illegal constructions, ”added the court.

Also, the State Government was requested to prepare a report on illegal constructions, classified according to types such as illegal constructions on the roadside in municipal and panchayat areas, paddock fields, governmental properties, communidades and tenable lands and to create a roadmap for their demolition.

“Goa blessed us with a delightful natural environment, which must be cared for and protected. The fragile ecosystem of Goa must be protected. We have found statutes that must be applied strictly entirely to reduce the threat of illegal construction, ”said the court.

Also, the court guided Talathi (the village revenue official) in each village to inspect the illegal constructions on the paddock fields in their jurisdiction and to present a report to the block development officer (BDO), which will then initiate a demolition action following the appropriate process.

Similar instructions have been issued to municipal authorities and Panchayat to conduct polls, to submit reports and to take measures against illegal constructions along the roads, in commercial units, on land held by the Government, communidades (common) land and on tenant agricultural land.
